Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell works as a journalist for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has an undergraduate degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania. In the year 1967, Mitchell was hired as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. 1996, she joined WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). She was hired by NBC News Washington two years following that as an general reporter. The year 1981 saw her begin working for the White House and became chief Congress correspondent in 1988. In 1992, she was appointed Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 chief foreign affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell appeared as both a host and panelist in the TV news show Meet the Press. Mitchell was on a panel for the 1988 presidential debates featuring George Bush (then president) as well as Michael Dukakis. Mitchell was married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of Federal Reserve Board. In 2005 Mitchell was awarded the highly coveted Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government as well as in 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) awarded Mitchell by awarding her the Leonard Zeidenberg Award for her contributions to the protection for First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the first journalist to cover White House stories for NBC News during the presidency of Ronald Reagan in office from 1981 to 1988. Mitchell was a reporter on a range of noteworthy stories, such as the Iran Contra scandal, budget tax reforms and the arms control. She traveled together with Ronald Reagan several times to attend summits and discuss topics such as that of the Iran Contra scandal.
