Selena
She is a performer as well as a designer, and music pioneer. She was a Mexican American singer that was modern and traditional. She united both worlds and brought Tejano music to the forefront. Her tragic death cut a hole in her rise in popularity, and like many times the moment a brilliant, warm singer dies too young, it has left many mourning her unrealized potential. Her fans have been working harder in an effort to not forget what she's achieved. The death of Selena triggered an emotional response within the Latino society that could be similar in a way to Elvis Presley, and John Lennon. Selena was an extremely popular Latino singer throughout North America. Her music transcended the boundaries of culture and touched the hearts of youngsters as well as older adults. Selena may have been hailed by certain people as an Latina Madonna, however she's still a fantastic role model. Selena's family values off stage and involvement with AIDS awareness efforts provide a great example.
